CineSend
Design for an On Demand OTT platform powering film festivals like Sundance and Tribeca
Project description
CineSend is an entire suite of tools for movie distribution professionals handling huge, multi-language, confidential files like pre-release movies. CineSend OTT is one of their products and it allows studios to create and manage Netflix-like VOD platforms for web, mobile, and even TV.
My role
I was responsible for cross-platform design (web, iOS, Android) in line with the new design system I also created.
Challenge
In the face of a global pandemic, film festival directors needed a way to virtualize their movie offer for their global audiences. It was difficult for them to manage and distribute 100-200 cinema-quality movies in way that would prevent piracy and leaks. On the other side, festival goers wanted an easy way to browse and watch film selection on their devices of choice: web, mobile, or TV.
Solution
I designed a movie management platform that allowed directors to replace or/and compliment their live film festival event. The platform allowed managers to collect movie submissions form directors, and eventually publish the winning entries on a Netflix-like VOD platform. Custom publishing solution allowed film festivals to plan ahead and schedule premieres so they would start synchronously with the live event (if there was one). On top of that, we built streaming support that made it possible to i.e. watch live interviews and discussion panels with movie directors. Festival goers loved the familiarity of the design language that let them access premium content via vouchers or subscriptions.
